Our Textile Design Diploma Course also offers an in-depth exploration of digital design, an essential skill in today’s textile industry. Students will learn to harness advanced software to create patterns, colorways, and repeats with precision, enabling seamless integration from concept to production. This module covers industry-standard tools, such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, Affinity Designer, and Photo along with specialised textile software that brings designs to life in virtual form before they ever reach the fabric. With a focus on efficiency and creativity, the digital design component empowers students to experiment with limitless ideas, visualize their patterns on garments or home textiles, and create portfolios that stand out to potential employers.

OVERVIEW

There are 6 modules in this course to be completed. Each module has been designed as progressive steps so that you are learning by doing. You will be presented with Projects and Assignments in each module in which you will be assessed, plus a final exam which is carried out online through our online Campus.

 

MODULE ONE: The Framework
Here we will look at the Textile Design Industry, the technology, and its environment so that you have a clear understanding of what you will need to address ahead.

MODULE TWO: Answering the Brief
No matter whom you are designing for, there will always be a need to understand them and what it is they wish to achieve. Even if you are designing for yourself. This module will provide you with real-life projects and assignments.

MODULE THREE: Context & Communication
Industry Criteria, Illustration, Identity & Art Direction are very important factors, so here we will look at and carry out a selection of projects and tasks to build your skills and techniques in these areas.

MODULE FOUR: Style & Content
Now we move onto the types of design categories out there plus the use of colours, patterns changes in styles, and developments. Again, you will be presented with real-life projects and assignments for this module.

MODULE FIVE: Working Professionally
One of the reasons you want to study this course – to become a professional Textile Designer. Now we are going to start building your portfolio, your image, and how to get out there to pitch for that work or project.

MODULE SIX: Technical Considerations
Bringing everything together in this final module by carrying out your final Projects which will cover actual designing for Manufacturing and what you will need to achieve this.
